Ms. Darshini Desai

She completed Diploma in Ophthalmic Technology from P. V. Polytechnic, S. N. D. T. Women’s University, Mumbai, with a gold medal, in 1986. She was awarded the ‘Outstanding Alumna’ award at the silver jubilee celebrations of P.V. Polytechnic.

She has presented many scientific papers at conferences and has a wide experience in conducting CMEs, Seminars and Conferences. She was a visiting faculty at the P V Polytechnic, Lotus College of Optometry and Aditya Jyot College of Optometry, Mumbai. She has also been a faculty at Bhartiya Vidyapeeth Pune. She has been appointed as the Chairperson for the adhoc board of studies at the S. N. D. T. University for Optometry. She has assisted in the development of Nagar School of Optometry Ahmedabd, and School of Optometry in Navsari.

She has been actively involved with the Indian Optometric Association (IOA) since 1989. She has been the Regional Representative for West India for 2 years followed by vice presidency for 6 years. She was the first Lady President of the Indian Optometric Association (IOA). In her tenure as an office bearer for the IOA she has actively worked on only one goal of regulating the profession. She has worked hand in glove with the World Council of Optometry and is privileged to be sponsored to their meeting twice in USA. She is elected as the President for Federation of Associations of Indian Optometrists (FAIO).

With a vast clinical experience of 22 years, and the teaching experience of more than 20 years in the most reputed Eye Hospitals and Optical Outlets of Mumbai city and almost all the Optometry Institutions in Mumbai, she has now widened her horizon further in active practice with her appointment as the Director for Professional Affairs – CARE GROUP which is an Indian Multinational. She has been specially trained as a Clinical Application Manager for Schwind Excimer Laser Systems in Germany.

Further, she was entrusted with a task of creating a training module for the sales personnel for the optical outlets along with standardizing the optometry division in Gangar Eye Nation. A training module was formulated and implemented from September 2007. From June 2008, till date she is positioned as the Head Optometrist - Gangar Opticians Pvt. Ltd.

Ms. Yogita Rajgandhi

She completed Diploma in Ophthalmic Technology from P. V. Polytechnic, S. N. D. T. Women’s University, Mumbai in 1989. She then completed B. Optometry in 2007 and M. S. (Optometry) in 2011.

She worked at N. A. B. as ‘Low Vision Specialist’ and as the Head of L. V. Centre. At ‘Hindu Sabha Hospital’ she worked as Ophthalmic Assistant. She also worked as an Optometrist with ‘Vintrex Opticians’, ‘Aankhe Opticians’ and G. K. B. Opticians’ in Mumbai.

She presented many Scientific Papers at ‘All India Optometry Conferences’ and at ‘ESO International Science and Vision Optometry Conference’. Her articles on ‘Optometrist’s Role in Occupational Health’, ‘Low Vision Care’ and’ Importance of History Taking in Low Vision Rehabilitation’ are published.

She has won many prestigious awards. She received an award from ‘Utkarsha Mandal Dumb and Deaf Govt. Organization’ for extending continuous support for 5 years, the first prize for paper presentation at the ‘33rd All India Optometry Conference’, an award from ‘Johnson and Johnson’ for the ‘Optometry Quiz Contest’, as Western Coordinator, at the ‘34th All India Optometry Conference’ and an award from ‘Giants International’ for the ‘Best Service project of the year 2010’ on ‘Low vision Rehabilitation’ at their Mumbai Convention.

She is actively associated in social activities with ’Kamala Mehta School for the Blind’, ‘National Association for the Blind’, ‘Giants International Federation 1-A’ and likes.

At present she is working as the Western Zone Coordinator of All India Schools of Optometry. She is also working as the visiting faculty at H. V. Desai Optometry Institute, Pune, M. E. H., Mumbai and the Dept. of Ophthalmic Technology, P. V. polytechnic, S. N. D. T. Women’s University.

Ms. Kavita Mittal

Passed Diploma in Ophthalmic Technology in the year 1987.
Passed B. Optom.(Optometry) with First Class in 2007.

Working as a Teaching Faculty in Dept. of Ophthalmic Technology, P. V. Polytechnic, S. N. D. T. Women’s University.

Ms. Sumathi Ramanujam

She completed Diploma in Ophthalmic Technology from P. V. Polytechnic, S. N. D. T. Women’s University, Mumbai in 2007. She then finished B. Optometry in 2011.

She worked as an Optometrist at ‘Mehta Eye Clinic’. Currently she is working at the Eye Care Centre in P. V. Polytechnic and as a visiting faculty in the Dept. of Ophthalmic Technology, P. V. polytechnic, S. N. D. T. Women’s University. She is also working at ‘Drushti eye and Retina Centre’ and Rajvi Nursing Home from June 2010.
